Nikon Spotting Scopes Review
Nikon, one of the world’s leaders in state-of-the-art technology, offers a lineup of Spotting Scopes that combines exceptional magnification through high-quality optics with rugged and waterproof features. This lineup attests to why Nikon is one of the most preferred brands anywhere in the world.
The most popular Nikon Spotting Scope is the Nikon Prostaff Waterproof 82mm Spotting Scope which has large objective lens for the brightest FOV or Field of View, multi-coated optics which are made of Eco-glass that is lead and arsenic free, 20-60×82 angled body, waterproof and fogproof. It is covered by a lifetime full warranty just like other Nikon products.
Other Nikon Spotting Scopes are featured on the company’s website namely Spotting Scope RAIII 82 WP, Spotting Scope RAIII 82 A WP, Spotting Scope RAIII 65 WP and Spotting Scope RAIII 65 A WP. These types have different specifications in terms of objective diameter, length and width, and height. Spotting Scope RAIII 82 WP and Spotting Scope RAIII 82 A WP have similar objective diameter which is 65 mm while Spotting Scope RAIII 65 WP and Spotting Scope RAIII 65 A WP have an objective diameter of 82 mm.
For the length against width specifications, the Spotting Scope RAIII 65 WP and Spotting Scope RAIII 65 A WP have higher specifications with 380×114 mm and 391×114 mm respectively. Spotting Scope RAIII 65 WP comes next with a weight of 1200 grams followed by Spotting Scope RAIII 82 A WP with the 920 grams with a slight difference from the lightest which is Spotting Scope RAIII 65 WP weight 900 grams. Again, these measurements apply to the body of the spotting scope only.
All of the Nikon Spotting Scopes come with similar features such as a sleek body equipped with a large-diameter lens that gives a brighter FOV. This large-diameter lens together with eyepieces and prisms has a multilayer coating specifically designed for Nikon Spotting Scopes serving to diminish ghost and flare to an acceptable level. Furthermore, these spotting scopes are waterproof up to a level of 2 meters or 6.6 feet for 5 minutes and also fog-free complete with nitrogen gas and O-ring seals.
These Nikon Spotting Scopes come with a bayonet-type eyepiece mount that has a locking system which ensures easier, quicker and more secure connection. The scopes also come with a detachable Target Sight TGS-1 designed to make for a quicker and easier targeting, rubber armoring to make the scopes shock resistant and built-in riding hood. Other useful options include a collection of six high-eyepoint eyepieces with eyecups with turn-and-slide capability and objective lens cap with tie to prevent possible loss.
To complement the lineup of the Nikon Spotting Scopes, also available are Nikon Spotting Scope Eyepieces namely 16-48x/20-60x Zoom eyepiece, 20x/25x LER eyepiece, 20x/25x eyepiece and 30x/38x Wide eyepiece.
